The Rotary Club of
Balclutha

7 April 2020

Greetings everyone, from my bubble to everyone in your bubble.

Wow, who would have thought that when we met at our last meeting on March 19, what major decisions were to be made and implemented,  that we have all experienced over the last couple of weeks, and that they could have been so life changing,  with consequences more far reaching than any of us thought would have been possible.

At that stage we met with heavy hearts because "our" District Conference had to be cancelled that week. Little did we know at that time how minor that decision was,  compared to the many challenges everyone of us has had to face in our daily lives since.

Tania has been keeping members up to date with opportunites to have Zoom meetings, and l hope that some of you have had the time get involved with these.  Thank you Tania for your continued correspondence.

Asst District Governor,  Lea Johnston, made contact last week, advising that Rotary Clubs within our District had been directly asked to help the Cancer Society with logistics for some of their clients. This may or may not involve any of our Club members, but l have asked Christine Cutler to be coordinator/contact for our Club, as I am still in Dunedin working.

We still have the phone books to look forward to distributing when time permits after lockdown. Unfortunately, noone has the power to say what dates this can be set down for yet.

My thoughts continue to be with all members, our friends and people in our community, who are having to make very hard business decisions regarding the future for themselves and their staff.

I hope everyone is keeping safe, sane,  and occupied, as the days tick by before a possible return to an "almost normal life" again.

See you all then, when that happens.

Regards to all,
Christine

District Chat meetings on Zoom

This is just a reminder about the District "chat meetings" every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening for the 4 week lockdown period, starting next Monday 30th March.  Each night the session will run for an hour, and you can join and leave during that period.  Feel free to drop in for 5 minutes or 60 minutes, we will be pleased to see you!

Rotary Connects the World - and despite us being in lockdown, we can still have that connection via Zoom.  Instructions for joining a meeting were included in your District Newsletter, but these are once again attached for you all.

Details for all four evenings follow, you will need to note these meeting numbers down, as they are different each day of the week (but the same for each Monday, Tuesday etc).
