Guest Speaker: Rhonda Munro
Morgue Manager, Dunedin - protocols required for sudden deaths

Thank you Rhonda for an interesting and informative talk. Rhonda began her career as a nurse at Balclutha Hospital and now works at the morgue in Dunedin. In the case of unexpected, sudden or violent deaths the coroner can request a post-mortem to find a cause of death and Rhonda is part of the team that carries out this work. They service the Southland and Dunedin area, with any forensic work sent up to Christchurch.
A post-mortem is a very thorough investigation looking at organs, tissues, cells and genes so the cause of death can be established. Whilst this process can be challenging Rhonda finds getting answers for the families rewarding.
